Easter

Happy Easter everyone!

Me and my housemate got into the easter spirit (and love any excuse to bake) so made some cute little cupcakes.

I have just come back from a lovely long bank holiday weekend at home with family and friends. Felt nice to have a break mid-way through my internship.

And I came back to this adorable collection of goodies! Best housemates ever I reckon.

Now its back to work tomorrow for the final 2 weeks and then lie-ins will be mine once again :)
I hope you all had a lovely long weekend!

Strange things happen, are you going round the twist

Did anyone watch that tv show as a child? Think it was called round the twist. Got the theme tune in my head. #90skid

I felt like a ramble today, I haven't posted properly and consistently on here since literally forever. I keep saying to myself I will blog looads next year as I will be in the land of snails and frogs (France), however then I think why not do that now? Its never too early to write down memories and experiences.

Speaking of France, that's a challenge in my life at the moment. Turns out finding accommodation to live for a year in a whole other country is a bit difficult! However this also means a weekend break to sort it all out might be in order (yay). It excites and scares me to be going away in a few months, a few months which I know will fly by and before I know it i'll be there!
Je suis un peu nerveuse.

I am almost halfway through my 4 week internship at the moment (something else which is going by so quickly!), and I never appreciated how tiring working 9-5 is. I know its average if not less than most peoples work load which makes me glad i'm doing it as I feel like im really earning my money for once and learning so much as I go. I'll be honest I am one of those people who likes to have a system in place and know exactly what i'm doing and how to do it; and starting out at a company is none of these things. So it turns out these four weeks are teaching me not to worry and stress as much as well.

Summer is nearly here again! NOT.
It is late March here in the Southwest of England and I find myself still sleeping in at least 3 layers in bed and failing to feel my feet/fingers throughout the day. It's ridiculous - global warming? Hmm I have yet to see proof of this one.

More soon.

Maybelline 'The Falsies' Mascara - Review

Today I am going to do a short review on the Maybelline 'The Falsies' Mascara. Its a product which I have seen loved by loads of people all over youtube and blogs so I thought it was about time I picked it up! It was on offer for about £4 when I purchased it so not bad price-wise.

Maybelline 'The Falsies' Mascara in 'black drama' - RRP 7.99
It definitely does a great job of giving my lashes length and curl - I particularly like the curved wand as it makes it so much easier to apply. Below you can see before and after pictures to see it's effect...

Before
After
So as you can see they give amazing length and give a spidery effect which I like. The only downside to this product would be that I find it smudges underneath my eye during the day a little. So maybe when it runs out I will think about buying the waterproof version as I feel it may stay put for longer.

If it wasn't on offer i'm not sure I would pay £7.99 for it as I feel there are cheaper mascaras which do pretty much the same thing. But for £4 I can't complain!

Overall a great mascara though and definitely one of my favourites :)

January in a nutshell

Return to university
So with the start of January comes the start of uni again and the start of the dreaded exams. Although home is lovely I have grown to love living a tad more independantly so it's great to be back and with my friends again. Needless to say exams were slightly stressful and horrible but here's hoping I scraped through (results in a few weeks eeek), fingers crossed!

Shoppingggggg
Coming back to Southampton also means I find myself wondering into town and accidentally buying some clothes and make-up eventhough I really really shouldn't. Oh well. A few favourites of January have to be my new khaki jacket from the Zara sale (I had wanted one like this for ages), new jeans (again), and some new make-up gems such as the maybelline 'the falsies' mascara.

Music
This month hasn't brought me many new musical discoveries to be honest. I have been enjoying Daughter, 'Youth' and 'Your Kisses' are songs I feel I will never grow tired of. Also 'Atlas Hands and 'Pictures' by Benjamin Francis Leftwich are just beautiful. And finally, I must admit, my guilty pleasure of this month has definitely been Taylor Swift with '22' and 'Trouble' - too good :)

Making Progress
I managed to secure an Internship this month for a small company over Easter which has really given me a huge boost in my University work and general confidence in what I am doing, which is never a bad thing!

Films

I have barely been to see any films recently, i find the cinema is just so expensive these days that I need to really want to see a film before I fork out £8 to see it! One that I did pay the price for, or half (thank god for Orange Wednesdays), was Les Miserables. It was definitely worth the money and a great film! Hugh Jackman is my true love i'm sure of it. Although I do have to admit, even though it was great it doesn't come close to the real deal in the theatre; if you get the chance to see it live - do it.

Obsessions
A new obsession which has come about is my love of 'Girls'. No, I am not a lesbian, I mean the new American sit-com which I find myself constantly watching - it's a funny, easy watch which I would recomend. I also feel it's about time I get into 'Homeland' now as I have heard too many good things not to!
Scented candles are another new obsession. I feel slightly lost when one runs out and I have no back-up these days.

Anyway I think that's about it, I'm sorry if this post was waffly and boring but I wanted to kill some time!

Update

It has been unbelievably long since I wrote a blog post - I am not very good with this blogging malarky.
I thought i'd try get back into it with a short update on the past few months...

- Christmas was lovely having the whole family back together to welcome in 2013. The break from uni was great but again it just flew by - three weeks was not long enoughhh.

- Second year has already flown by, I cannot believe i'm already halfway through. Exams are all done for Semester one so I have had a short time of relaxing in the past few weeks before Semester two gets well and truly underway!

- With my return to University after Christmas I have managed to get an internship for Easter which is amazing - i'm anxious but excited to finally get some hands-on marketing experience.

- As the year moves swiftly on, my year abroad moves swiftly closer. I will be in Toulouse in France for Year 3 of university which is daunting yet exciting as I struggle to improve my extremely bad french skills. With this adventure abroad though my goal is to keep a very regular blog going so I record every aspect of it. My virtual diary for the year.

- One of my new years resolutions is to blog more often so watch this space!
