My Staycation

Last week I decided to join my parents on a little trip to Dorset. It made me appreciate England and the beautiful scenery which we take for granted!

Sadly I doubt I will be heading abroad this summer due to moving to London and starting a new job (and being skint because of it!) so this little glimpse of the English coast will have to do until my next holiday, and I must say - its not bad at all :)

What are your plans this summer?

Life Update: Finishing University, Moving to London...

Hello!

I vow that this will be the last post where I begin: "Sorry it has been such a long time since my last post...", this is a fresh start! Not just for the blog but for everything, it is a time of changes, lots of changes...

I have finished University

Having received my final grades a few days ago, I can now say I have a Bacheoler of Science in International Marketing! *Applause!* It has been a long time coming, and the best four years, but I officially have finished University and I can't believe it. I have learnt to much in the past four years, not just academically but also learnt a lot about myself and had some of the best experiences. Now I just need to get graduation out of the way and then it is on to new things! Which brings me onto my next piece of news...

I am moving to London

Something I never imagined would actually happen, but I have got graduate a job in London and will be moving there in August! Coming from a small country village, living in London has always been something I wanted to try, and what better time than now. I cannot wait to explore the city and meet new people, it is bound to be a challenge at times (particularly financially) but I am looking forward to the adventure. I barely know London, so it will be the perfect opportunity to blog about it as I explore, and you can explore it with me!

Our course on the day of our final exam
It's been an incredible four years, and I cannot wait to see what the next four might bring.

2014 Bucket List

I know I am a bit late in the day with this post (where has January gone already?!) but I thought I would share with you a few things from my 'bucket list' for 2014...

  1. Blog at least once a week - okay so it's written down now! Starting from this post I will post at least once every single week (hopefully more). I really enjoy writing and being creative with this blog but recently I have let life get in the way - well not anymore people! Expect more from Alice Palace this year :)
  2. Go Travelling - I have an unusually long summer this year and if I can scrape the money together I plan to spend at least a month of it travelling I hope! High on the list is America or Australia at the moment.
  3. Get an Internship - If you are an undergraduate student you will feel my pain for this one. Good, well-paid internships are incredibly hard to get hold of as its just so competitive. Hoping my persistence will pay off soon though and I will gain some valuable work experience this year, watch this space...
  4. Read at least 10 books - this is probably a walk in the park for most of you but I really need to read more as I enjoy it but find watching endless YouTube videos more attractive. Maybe I will do mini reviews as I go.
  5. Eat Healthier and do more exercise - This is a standard one that I do every single year and it lasts all of about 5 minutes. So far since my return to France the healthy eating part has definitely already deteriorated haha..
  6. Go Skiing - I have never ever been skiing and it's something that I have always wanted to try. Lucky for me I already have a trip booked with some university friends to go skiing in Andorra at the end of the month! So excited.
  7. 'Give Back' - I sometimes forget how lucky I am so this year I definitely want to do some volunteering or charity work to help out people who aren't as lucky as me.
I think these are all do-able resolutions for this year! I'll keep you updated on how they all go anyway...
Do you have any resolutions for 2014?

Strange things happen, are you going round the twist

Did anyone watch that tv show as a child? Think it was called round the twist. Got the theme tune in my head. #90skid

I felt like a ramble today, I haven't posted properly and consistently on here since literally forever. I keep saying to myself I will blog looads next year as I will be in the land of snails and frogs (France), however then I think why not do that now? Its never too early to write down memories and experiences.

Speaking of France, that's a challenge in my life at the moment. Turns out finding accommodation to live for a year in a whole other country is a bit difficult! However this also means a weekend break to sort it all out might be in order (yay). It excites and scares me to be going away in a few months, a few months which I know will fly by and before I know it i'll be there!
Je suis un peu nerveuse.

I am almost halfway through my 4 week internship at the moment (something else which is going by so quickly!), and I never appreciated how tiring working 9-5 is. I know its average if not less than most peoples work load which makes me glad i'm doing it as I feel like im really earning my money for once and learning so much as I go. I'll be honest I am one of those people who likes to have a system in place and know exactly what i'm doing and how to do it; and starting out at a company is none of these things. So it turns out these four weeks are teaching me not to worry and stress as much as well.

Summer is nearly here again! NOT.
It is late March here in the Southwest of England and I find myself still sleeping in at least 3 layers in bed and failing to feel my feet/fingers throughout the day. It's ridiculous - global warming? Hmm I have yet to see proof of this one.

More soon.

Update

It has been unbelievably long since I wrote a blog post - I am not very good with this blogging malarky.
I thought i'd try get back into it with a short update on the past few months...

- Christmas was lovely having the whole family back together to welcome in 2013. The break from uni was great but again it just flew by - three weeks was not long enoughhh.

- Second year has already flown by, I cannot believe i'm already halfway through. Exams are all done for Semester one so I have had a short time of relaxing in the past few weeks before Semester two gets well and truly underway!

- With my return to University after Christmas I have managed to get an internship for Easter which is amazing - i'm anxious but excited to finally get some hands-on marketing experience.

- As the year moves swiftly on, my year abroad moves swiftly closer. I will be in Toulouse in France for Year 3 of university which is daunting yet exciting as I struggle to improve my extremely bad french skills. With this adventure abroad though my goal is to keep a very regular blog going so I record every aspect of it. My virtual diary for the year.

- One of my new years resolutions is to blog more often so watch this space!
